Always wondered if a cruise would be enjoyable. Might's well take one.

Planned to visit Leon in London.

Seemed to fit nicely - SIA's A380 to London, 12-day Princess Grand Mediterranean cruise starting from Barcelona and ending in Venice. And SIA's 777 return from Milan to Singapore.

Needed hops from London to Barcelona, and from Venice to Milan. Might's well extend stay in B and V. And perhaps 2 nights Milan.

Flights, the Princess cruise and Heathrow transfer to our London hotel booked through SA Travel.

We online-booked Venice to Milan rail trip, and all our hotels in London, Barcelona, Venice and Milan.

Had to be after Opening Ceremony of Beijing Olympics 2008 and back before the Singapore F1 Grand Prix on 26/9 - 28/9.

So, 4 nights London, 3 nights Barcelona, 3 nights Venice, 2 nights Milan; and 12 day Princess Grand Mediterranean cruise = 20/8/2008 - 16/9/2008.

About the Cruise

The 12-day Cruise we took covered 5 countries and 10 ports in the Mediterranean. It would have been perfect if they had Santorini (one of my 'must see' places) instead of Mykonos as a stop.

There were about 10 - 15 optional shore tours for every port. We went on a tour every day except in Barcelona and Venice where we had our own itineraries. Fortunately for us, we booked the tours early, on-line, as they were mostly sold out a day or two before each tour.

If you go on a Princess cruise, you MUST take the shore tours. They are very well organised in partnership with strong local tour partners and are great value for money.
